⚠️ EXPERT KEEPERS ONLY - MEDICALLY SIGNIFICANT VENOM ⚠️
The Phoneutria depilata, commonly known as the Panama Wandering Spider, is a highly venomous species that demands the utmost respect and expertise. This impressive New World wandering spider is only suitable for experienced keepers with proper training, secure facilities, and access to medical resources.
⚠️ VENOM WARNING:
Phoneutria species possess potent neurotoxic venom that is medically significant to humans. Bites can cause severe pain, muscle spasms, elevated heart rate, and other serious symptoms requiring immediate medical attention, even death. This species should only be kept by expert keepers with appropriate safety protocols, secure enclosures, and emergency action plans in place.
Appearance:
Adults display a robust, athletic build with brown to tan coloration and distinctive leg banding. Their powerful, agile bodies and impressive leg span make them formidable hunters. Their defensive posture, with raised front legs, is an iconic warning display.
Temperament & Behavior:
P. depilata are highly defensive, fast-moving, and should never be handled. They are active hunters rather than web-builders and will readily display defensive behavior when disturbed. Their speed and agility demand secure, escape-proof enclosures.
