Stromatopelma calceatum, commonly known as the Featherleg Baboon Tarantula, is one of the most visually striking and notoriously fast Old World arboreals in the hobby. Native to the tropical forests of West Africa — ranging from Senegal to Ghana — this species is prized by advanced collectors for its exceptional speed, bold defensive posture, and stunning coloration: a complex pattern of grays, browns, and creams with distinctively feathered leg setae that give it its common name.
